Church Street runs off Market Hill, the main square in Orford. Orford packs quite a punch for a small village and benefits from two fine public houses (The Jolly Sailor & The King’s Head), a smokery (Pinneys), school, two well-known restaurants (The Butley Oysterage and The Crown & Castle) as well as a thriving village shop, a butcher, a farmers’ market, a newsagent and not to mention the rather fabulous Pump Street Bakery. The close proximity to the river allows the opportunity to pursue a wide variety of water sports and Orford is particularly well known for sailing. The National Nature Reserves of Orford Ness and Havergate Island are situated in the River Ore just to the southeast of the village, renowned for its bird life. Orford is an extremely attractive village situated on the River Ore with a popular 12th century castle, a church which was used by Benjamin Britten for premieres and performances of some of his works including his Church Parables. There are 18-hole golf courses at Woodbridge and Aldeburgh.

A cosy little classic orford cottage that was a great short stay for us this autumn. Centrally placed in the heart of the village.

Cute cozy cottage in excellent location for exploring Suffolk. Within few mins walk of great pubs and famous fish restaurant. Cottage is as shown in photos and pristine clean. Only basic supplies in kitchen which wasn’t an issue for us as we ate out in the great local pubs. A pint of milk on arrival would have been really appreciated especially since the only shop near by closed early. Lovely stay and perfect location for quiet break.

Beautiful peaceful cottage within walking distance of the village amenities and harbour. Would definitely stay again

A lovely cottage in beautiful Orford. Great for a weekend away.

We had a lovely stay in Orford. The cottage was very clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. The host was clear with instructions to get to the property and access to it. Beautiful village and local area, peaceful and quiet, with interesting places to explore.

A beautiful and well-equipped cottage in the heart of Orford. It was perfect for two of us, and had everything we needed. Robin was very helpful and an excellent communicator, and we were particularly grateful for an early check-in. We would definitely go back, at whatever time of year!

Beautiful cottage located right in the middle of all that Orford has to offer. high quality furniture and fittings. Does include iron, ironing board and hairdryer but could still do with maybe a Bain Marie or additional pan in the kitchen. Although the bathroom is downstairs, there is a WC off the bedroom upstairs. We would definitely recommend this cottage.

The house was lovely, with lots of charm, and perfect for a romantic weekend away. Orford itself is very peaceful and friendly with plenty of places to eat, a lovely bakery and coffee shop as well as a place to get groceries and was a good base for all the local walks. We had a great time!

We loved our long weekend stay in this wonderful little cottage! The cottage itself was very cosy and had everything we needed. The location of the cottage was brilliant as it was only a small walk to the village store, bakery and pub. Orford itself was a lovely village with loads of great walks. The host was very responsive and helpful. We couldn't have asked for a nicer bank holiday weekend by the coast.
Thank you for your inquiry! We'll be in touch soon.

We had a lovely couple of days in this cosy cottage. It was the perfect size for 2 people. We had a well stocked wood burner, comfy bed and all the necessities. It was a treat having some tea bags on our arrival too. The cottage has an excellent location in Orford and we were given plenty of recommendations from the host. They even allowed us to check out an hour later which was even better.
